A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said “I don’t think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat.”
“Is the man of the house home?”, they asked.
“No”, she replied. “He’s out.”
“Then we cannot come in”, they replied.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.
“Go tell them I am home and invite them in!
The woman went out and invited the men in”
“We do not go into a House together,” they replied.
“Why is that?” she asked.
One of the old men explained: “His name is Wealth,” he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, “He is Success, and I am Love.” Then he added, “Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home.”
The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. “How nice!!”, he said. “Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!”
His wife disagreed. “My dear, why don’t we invite Success?”
Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: “Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!”
“Let us heed our daughter-in-law’s advice,” said the husband to his wife.
“Go out and invite Love to be our guest.”
The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.”
Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, t he lady asked Wealth and Success: “I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?”
The old men replied together: “If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would’ve stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him.
“Only Love is the real Wealth and Success…!!!”

Wow, that's a really great way to trick people in to believing anything. Step 1: take an assertion like "wealth and success follow love". Step 2: write the assertion in the form of a story. When people read/hear it, they'll be so focussed on the device that they may skip being critical of the assertion. Also, it makes you sound like a guru.
Here, let's try it with something totally absurd…
A very thirsty man is wandering the desert when he comes to a small town. Upon entering the town he sees that all the people are very sad. He asks them what's wrong and they point to the two wells in the center of town. One well is labeled "Compassion" and the other is labeled "Hatred". He inspects the wells and sees that the hatred well is filled with sand, and only the the water in the compassion well is drinkable. He takes a drink, and feeling himself becoming depressed by the townspeople's moods, he quickly leaves the town and continues his journey. After several hours, the man finds that he is thirsty again and comes upon a second town. This town has the same two wells– "Hatred" and "Compassion". However, this time he sees that the compassion well is full of sand, and only the hatred well is drinkable. The man goes to take a drink, but before he can, he is approached by a woman who is smiling from ear to ear. The woman yells to him "don't drink from our well!" and procedes to hack him to pieces with a sword, all the while smiling and giggling.
You see! Being compassionate makes you sad, while hating people makes you happy! I received this teaching from a feathered serpent on the eigth moon of jupiter during astral projection.
Snake Bird,
This is true that you can trick people in believe in anything, but the huge difference is that you are tricking them to believe in “hate” while I’m tricking them to believe in “love”. You can easily prove that “Being compassionate makes you sad, while hating people makes you happy!” (great!)
But what is the point?
What is the point to believe in teaching from a feathered serpent on the eigth moon of jupiter if you are having a brain?
If this is what outcome of your astral projection then stop it and regularly visit this blog.
Snake Bird,
Story telling is a great device, and the great Hypnotherapist of this century, Milton Erickson used storytelling in is therapy to heal and help people. It is up to you but if you use it creatively it is very powerful. You also said: “Also, it makes you sound like a guru.”
Well it is up to you and your judgement about me. I don’t bother what people think about me. And I don’t judge people.
Deception is deception, regardless of whether it promotes "good" or "evil" ideals. Deception is deception, whether it promotes "truths" or "falsehoods". If people need to be tricked in to being "good", then what you call "good" is clearly not the method of the universe.
My issue with this passage is that you have taken an assertion, and disguised it as something else. A person will be quick to be skeptical of a an assertion like "Wealth and success follow love". Because people know that an assertion without a basis is just a sound in the air. However, when you add this story to the assertion, the baselessness becomes hidden in the device. Sure, not everyone is stupid, and many can discern cleverness from truth, but adding the story does not enhance the assertion, it only serves to mask it.
If you try to promote truth in this way, you will tread water, because you are also promoting ignorance. If your message is good, show people, do not swindle them.
My initial criticism was directed generally towards the passage; I thought you quoted it. Sorry if you took it personally.
No I don’t take anything personal.
Snake Bird, nobody can ignore the power of stories. That’s why there are Sufi stories,Zen anecdotes, Akbar & Birbal stories, Aesop’s fables, Chicken Soup for the Soul etc.
The list is never ending.
The above story has a very simple message, “If there is love only then wealth or success has any meaning”. Otherwise there are so many rich and successful people but if the heart is empty then you are really poor, poor in soul.
Love is prosperity and wealth.
Money is just a simbol. You may have million dollars in the bank account but if you constantly worried or hankering for more money then you are really a begger.
People feel a viod or emptiness inside and they try to fill that emptiness with money and power but that emptiness remains. When there is love then there is no feeling of emptiness.
Rather there is a feeling of fullness. This is what richness is.
You said “If you try to promote truth in this way…”, No I’m not promoting truth. If truth need somebody like me to promote then it is very week. I’m just singing my song.
“Wealth and success follow love” this statement does not mean that if you love then you will become a millionaire, because Kabir, Nanak, Jisus or Buddha are not a millionaire. Actually they are very poor. But still they are rich, and more rich than any king or a President of a country. The meaning of the story is you can have all the riches in the world but if love is missing then everything is missing. And if you are having love then you are already rich even if you dont have any possessions.
To a loving heart the whole universe is home.
Then who is the richest person? A person having personal Jet, Rolls-Royce, a president of a country, or a person who is able to love, and who feels oneness with the whole earth? This is simple meaning of the story.
There is no deception.
But nothing is wrong with your analysis.
Actually you are a person who analyze. A analyst may cut a flower and ask show me where is the beauty? You are too much in brain, language of poems and stories and paintaings is different. But it is ok.
I don’t see anything wrong with your analysis.
To analize and to doubt is a way but to trust and to love to surrender is also way.
hi mg
i was reading the comments and i felt what snake bird felt is something anybody who is intellegent but focussed outside i.e. socitey would understand from the story.. love what we see is almost lust and can't be so important that it can make wealth i.e money (which is very important) to follow it .
so as you explained him that this wealth and sucess are not what we think of as in our society
may be we have also to explain that the love that has been talked about in the story is also not what we genrally percive but it has to be an all encompassing love not a man women love or man loving only poor and ill basically a love which is not depended on outside but flows from within ..
but yes the words wealth and sucess are confusing ..i mean wisdom or compassion would have been better instead of wealth..
and as for success – the word smells of compettion and comparision which can't be the outcome of true love
in the end somehow i have to agree with snake bird that this email forward can be misleading to many(even you had to explain a lot to make it understand fully )
Hmmm!
really misleading!….$$$$$$$
But I really enjoyed talking to both of you!
ha ha ha ! thanks mg!
when i read this just verbally yes its misleading just for the sake of debate!
but otherwise i did understand that without true love all wealth and success has no meaning..
love fills our emptiness while wealth and success can never do that
and when one is truly full of love one is like a king (wealthy and successful)
what an idiot i am ! ha ha
love arun !
As thoughts start disappearing, love starts flowing more and more from nowhere, without any reason. A different kind of music, harmony and melody start feeling inside. Then life has a meaning and significance. Then ordinary things start rediating extraordinary.
As soon as you disapear you are arrived.
